Vy Plays Catch-up

The past month has seen me eating in Boston, Providence, Orlando, and Quebec. Busy busy bee. Sorry for lumping them all into one post, but it's the best I can do.

Returning from trips, I always want Asian food for some reason. We landed (after an awful ordeal), and went to PokeWorks in Somerville.

The next day, Tai wanted Chinese, so we went to Ming's in Malden.

Egg drop soup

Salt and pepper fried pork chop and calamari
Sauteed string bean with minced pork - don't think we will get this again
Beef chow foon

What happens when we order three dishes for 2 people - leftovers for daysss

A week later (where did I eat in the meantime? I've no idea...), we're at Blue Asia, for our usual.

Stewed beef noodle soup
Salt and pepper fried chicken over rice

The following day, I'm back on a plane to Orlando for two days. The one dinner I did make it out for was at Terra Mia in Lake Mary.

Caprese
Rigatoni alla Norma

I was not expecting a ton, but the food here was really delicious. So, if you're ever in Lake Mary, come here.

 Airport pizza

And then it's back to work right away, but the weekend comes, and Tai and I go to Sugidama in Davis Square.

Mojito - that the waiter pronounces Moe-Gee-Toe
Avocado salad
Salmon sashimi and unagi avocado maki
Torched toro maki

Food was okay, service was odd. I really wanted to like it, but I would probably not come back.

Saturday, I meet Caitlin for brunch at The Local in Newton.

Ahi tuna salad
French toast

Overall, really good.

That evening, Tai and I met with the Kwans for dessert at Honey Honey Dessert Cafe in Malden.

Mango madness with ice cream - sadly not really as mango-y as you'd expect
Darkness - black sticky rice in sesame soup
Forgiveness durian

After a super tough week, we meet with a couple of former FRB coworkers at Temazcal Tequila Cantina in Seaport. The guacamole here is delicious.

Tuna tartare - really good
Scallops al Pastor - the sauce is delicious

This place was surprisingly much better than I was expecting, given its location.

And just like that, the following morning we're off to Mont Tremblant in Quebec.

Supermarket sushi, I think? I'm not sure. It honestly all tasted the same.
Fruit crepe with chocolate at the summit lodge - the fruit was fantastic
Onion soup, also at the summit lodge - soo good

One of our dinners out was to sEb l'artisan culinaire. The restaurant is literally in a home, and it's just so cute and inviting, and everyone is so friendly.

Oysters - the mignonette was fantastic
Amuse bouche - arancini
Fish ceviche with taro chips
Scallops sashimi
 Foie gras pierogi
Red snapper
Duck
 Beef sirloin
Veal
Dessert

Everything was so good! Truly a great experience.

 Beaver tail snack

Our last dinner in Quebec was at LaForge at the base of the mountain.

Calamari
Onion soup in a bread bowl - also delicious
 Flap steak
 Ribeye
 Smoked brisket sandwich
 Salmon burger
 Salmon
 Burger

Mmm this meal was okay. Not amazing but passable.

For brunch before our drive back, we went to a sugar shack. More specifically, Cabane a Sucre Constantin.

Pea soup
Omelet and ham
Potatoes
Sausages in syrup
Beans in syrup
Lard chips
Egg in syrup
Pie
Not even sure, but something in syrup
Crepe
More pie
Pudding chomeur

The food was good. Syrup on everything haha. The desserts were so blaaaaah. All sugar, no actual flavor.

And then we're back at PokeWorks.

And it's Saturday, and after a 90 minute wait (yes, seriously), we're eating all you can eat sushi at Maki Maki in Woburn.

Calamari, shrimp tempura, agedashi tofu, salmon teriyaki

Sashimi
Rolls
More rolls
 Hand rolls
Oreo tempura

Great company. Okay food. Maybe it was just too late? Too busy?
