Still raining. With more rain to come. But life goes on. So today I have dinner with Nhi, Catherine, and Kimmy at Anthem in Faneuil Hall. Anthem is in a really nice space, but boy does it get loud. I haven't seen Catherine and Kimmy in a while, and it was really great to catch up. But now I have no voice.
The menu is a bit all over the place. I normally don't mind, but it wouldn't have hurt to have a bit more of a focus.
Nhi's tacos - she got two carnitas and two fish. I had half of a carnitas one, and it was actually really good. I would have been happier with a cheese or sour cream, but I'm nit-picking a bit there.
Catherine's lobster mac and cheese - more creamy and less cheesy than I normally like. But it made for a light dish. For $26, I find the portion a bit on the small side, but it was okay.
Kim's salmon - the rice cake was really interesting and tasty. She said the salmon was good and crispy. And I ate most of her sugar snap peas hah. This was actually a generous portion, especially when compared to Catherine's.
My margherita pizza - super cheesy, and this mozzarella was really quite good. I would have liked a little more basil though.
Banana chocolate bread pudding - again a generous portion. Could have really used a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Otherwise, it was serviceable.
Anthem is not an awful option in the area. But there are better, I hope. I can't think of any at the moment, but I'm holding out hope that they exist.
