April Eats in BOS and PVD

It's been a month. I'm the worst blogger ever. Still a good eater though. Hah.

Dinner with Tai at Kaju Tofu in Allston:

 Ban chan
Soondubu  - solid here. Total comfort food.
Spicy pork

Family dinner at Ming's in Malden:

Crabmeat and fish maw soup
 Fried milk
 Beef chow foon
 Salted fried pork and calamari
Crispy duck with taro
Fish filets in a sweet corn sauce

Dinner with Lourry and Tai at Red Lantern in Back Bay. So, I find this place pricey, and that's saying something at this point:

Lobster rangoon - so I quite liked this
Calamari - this was typical of any Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. I would have liked it crispier.
 Black widow maki
 Fiery volcano maki
I don't remember what this is called, but it has meat. Do not get maki with meat. It was much too chewy. The flame was cool though.

Not a great experience overall (company excluded). We were directly under an air vent, and it was cold. We were told they would turn it down - didn't happen. They were unable to make the first drink I ordered, but still tried to charge me for it. Don't expect to be back unless others pick the venue.

Dinner was followed by brunch weekend! The first was with Thuy at Met Bar at Legacy Place:

Tuna melt? Maybe?
Avocado toast with egg

Second brunch was with Nhi and Catherine at Del Frisco's Grille in Burlington:

Crabcake Benedict - they both really liked this (and finished their plates!).
Chicken and red velvet waffle - so excited that they offered to do this for me. The chicken was dry though. And I did not finish (but would you expect me to?).
Our waitress heard it was a birthday celebration (even though it was really only in Cat's mind) and brought us this slice of lemon cake. Really thoughtful of her, and the cake was quite good.

Dinner at Red Fin Crudo + Kitchen in Providence (really good):

Papas fritas
Brussels sprouts
 Fish tacos

Early dinner with Tai at Babbo in Boston (overall okay):

Chopped salad
Swordfish and broccoli rabe
Carbonara
Pork belly

Dinner at Public Kitchen & Bar in Providence:

Brussels sprouts
Margherita pizza - the most meh pizza I've had in a while

More brunch! This time with Jessica, Stan, and Tai at Hops Test Kitchen & Raw Bar in Inman Square:

Chicken and waffle
Pancake trio - I wish they were fluffier
Standard breakfast fare
Smoked salmon Benedict
What's a stop in Inman without ice cream at Christina's

Dinner at Seoul Kitchen in Braintree (I miss NYC Korean BBQ):

Mediocre at best.

BONUS: A beautiful day in Boston
