Vy Eats in Milan

Vy Eats in Milan> Finally, I get myself to Italy. And it's beautiful. The food is great. It's very low-key in a lovely way. But first, the plane ride.

Vegetarian pasta. Meh
Breakfast is muffin and fruit
Home base in Milan is the AC Hotel Milano

I land, exhausted. And make my way to the hotel. And nap while waiting for Tai to come. We then trek out to a TIM store to get a SIM card for me. And then, to dinner. At Ristorante Andry.

Crispy octopus and burrata and potato
Risotto Andry
Spaghetti con vongole - Tai finished this whole thing
Panna cotta

It was a great first meal. Portions were way bigger than I anticipated. We had to walk it off after, where we found fancy Starbucks:

Next day for lunch, we try poke and boba at Chateau Dufan. It was okay, would not go again (the poke). Boba was fine.

Some views in the city:

And my favorite, Duomo. Milan's cathedral:

Our first full day, we walked a bit, shopped a bit, and then did a walking tour of Leonardo da Vinci items in Milan, ending at the Last Supper.

After the tour, we walked in the rain, and stopped at at Da Zero for a pizza dinner.

Prosciutto and mozzarella
My half of the pizza

Pizza was great - dough was soft and amazing.

Second full day starts with breakfast at Momo Milano.

My cream thing was not what I expected at all haha.

Second full day we explore Duomo. You can take the stairs or the elevator to the rooftops - I highly recommend this. It is just amazing up there. The inside is also beautiful, with the stained glass windows.

Tai's feet are tired and he's grumpy at this point, but I push him to walk a bit more for dinner at Giuliano a Milano. We are the only people here at this point (we eat so early compared to Italians haha), but service is great. We order the seafood pasta for two and it's just so much food. But it's delicious.

It's our last night and we walk back to Duomo for one last look before leaving the city.

And then it's off to Venice.

Vy's Pre-Italy Meals

What does Vy eat in three weeks without Tai? Let's see:

Tacos al pastor at La Victoria Taqueria in Arlington
Fish tacos at La Victoria
Victoria torta at La Victoria - this was really good. I was reluctant because they use a black bean spread, but the sandwich is so good, I didn't even mind
Sai ua from Dakzen in Somerville
Gua chai tod from Dakzen - these were great
Yen ta fo from Dakzen - really not what I was expecting, but still good. Really light.
Chicken and dumplings from Mrs Cluck Deluxe at Time Out Market -  this was okay. There are better things to eat at Time Out though
Mushroom tofu stew with kalguski noodles at SGD in Quincy
The first of my three course meal at Ruth's Chris in Boston
My petite filet at Ruth's Chris
The sides at Ruth's Chris
Asparagus at Ruth's Chris
Mashed potatoes at Ruth's Chris
Lobster mac and cheese at Ruth's Chris - this was okay. Where's my panko or bread crumb topping?
Sweet potato casserole at Ruth's Chris - the crumble was great
Bread pudding at Ruth's chris
Beer at Gillette on a beautiful August evening
View minus the beer
Yook gae jung from Seoul Soulongtang in Allston - this was really good. And really filling. I think I ate the leftovers for an additional two meals
The shredded beef in the stew

A pretty good three weeks, and then I am off to Milan :)

Pre-Europe Meals

So before Tai leaves for Europe for 4 weeks, we try to eat the things he'll miss.

One of those things: ramen. Now, neither of us had been to Santouka in Harvard Square up until now. And while the space is bigger than the Back Bay Santouka, I found the broth not as flavorful here. I think I'll stick to Back Bay for now.

Chicken kaarage - I wanted spicy mayo or something.
My ramen and gyoza combo - I liked the gyoza. Ramen was okay too.
Tai's spicy miso ramen

He also wanted to get hot pot, so we do at Shabu.

Boneless short rib, prime rib, and vegetables.

 And then he's off. :)
